"Twas the night before kindergaren, and as they prepared, kids were excited and a little bit scared. They tossed and they turned about in their beds, while visions of school supplies danced in their heads."
This book is about the excitement and anticipation of the first day of kindergarten both the children and parents feel. I highly recommend Kindergarten teachers to have and maybe even first grade for reflection. The poetry and illustrations in the book are wonderful!
Here is a website for a back to school lesson:

This is a story about a little girl named Emily who discovers a whale living in the pond in her yard. She begins to write letters to her teacher, Mr. Blueberry, seeking more to learn more about this amazing animal their habit. Mr. Blueberry's replies sending Emily information and details but he is also quite sure that whatever is in her pond is not a whale since they live in salt water. Emily shares her letters with the whale, who, after leaves the pond to return to the ocean after hearing he is supposed to migrate. THis is a fun book with watercolor illustrations. I would use this with Kinder-2nd grade.
