This book is great to read with Pre-k and up. This is a story of a little girl named Maria who really wants to wear her mother's ring. Her mother of course, doesn't let her and so Maria decides to try it on when she sees the ring in the kitchen. This occurs as the family is making tamales (Hispanic traditional food) and so Maria along with her cousins assist in kneading the masa. She looses the ring in the dough and so her cousins and her decide they must eat up the tamales to find her mother's ring.
This book is exciting and most children just know that Maria will be in big trouble and are very interested in finding out what happens next.

Hi Angelica this is one of my favorite books, this is definetly a book I would read to my students to talk about culture. It is also a great book to teach about honesty and to invite children to share about their experiences of getting something when asked not to.
Good Job!
This is a great story pretty much any child can relate too. Its great for a multi-cultural lit day, and also teaching students on the consequences on borrowing without asking. I'd read this to my students, and i'd also look into this author to see what other stories i'd be able to use.
