A ..P-R-O-C-E-S-S..writing is a PROCESS!!! (that's a little cheer for Harris, LOL)
Okay, Focus....
The writing process includes 1. Pre-writing 2. Drafting 3. Revising 4. Editing 5. Publishing
Pre-writing is when we brainstorm and begin to organize our thoughts. You can form outlines, web ideas, or semantic maps. This leads to drafting which is writing your ideas on paper. In drafting, you begin to group your ideas into corresponding paragraphs not really focused on sentence structure or subject tense. Then comes revising your paper. When revising your work, you look at sentence structure. You change things around by adding or deleting sentences or paragraphs. You may choose to read it aloud and listen to the flow of the paragraphs. Next comes the editing part of the writing process. As you edit, you look for errors in grammar and sentence structures. Finally, publishing...you apply what you have written making it possible to share with others.
